Wimpole Parish Council

A Parish Council is the lowest tier of elected government, and is the nearest to individuals. It forms a link between other tiers and represents parishioners in local matters requiring input from other authorities. Parish Councils are the oldest government groups, and have very little power, but a great deal of influence. They look after the welfare of the parish as a whole.

Wimpole Parish Council is elected every four years and is required to have five elected or formally co-opted Parish Councillors. The Council meets in Wimpole Village Hall on the second Tuesday of alternate months at either 7.30 or 8.00 pm (see dates and times below).

The Chairman is always happy to receive communications from villagers expressing concerns relevant to the parish. If you have a problem, a comment or a complaint about local services, you can either contact Richard informally or you can write to him on the record via the Parish Clerk.

Parish Crime Reports

"The Sawston Heartbeat" - Community Police Crime Reports. (Word .doc format):

August 2004 (Burglars and Burglaries)
July 2004 (John's Holiday Checklist)
June 2004 (Thoughts on the Common or Garden Yob)
May 2004 (The Rev Peter Sutton remembers a pre-war Police Station)

A monthly summary of local crimes, listed parish-by-parish, together with an introduction (often very amusing!) written by our Community Beat Manager, PC John Sutton. About once a year we also get a bonus 'guest' introduction (equally amusing) from John's Dad.
